How Search Works on GiftBlazer

GiftBlazer's search helps you discover unique gifts by understanding natural language, not just keywords. When you search, GiftBlazer considers your phrasing, location, and filters to surface the most relevant and interesting products from local stores. The more specific and conversational your search, the better your results tend to be.

Tips for Phrasing Your Search

• Search like you're talking to a person, not to Google
• Be specific about the recipient or occasion (e.g., "for a foodie friend" or "housewarming")
• Example: "I need a gift for my 35 year old sister who loves hosting parties"

Local is the Priority

When you search, GiftBlazer prioritizes results from stores near you (specifically, within a 50-mile radius of your location). Within that radius, the results are then sorted by relevance to your search. Once the results in your local area are exhausted (because you're an infinite scrolling fiend!), GiftBlazer will expand the search radius to include stores farther afield with relevant results.

Changing Location

By default, GiftBlazer takes a best guess at your general location based on your internet connection. Don't worry though...it's not precise. It's typically the location of your internet provider's nearest data center. But, it is usually good enough to show you nearby stores.

Sometimes, however, you may want to shop in a specific location. Or across an entire state. Here's how you can do that in GiftBlazer:

City & Region ("Madison, WI")

Click the location selector (says "Nearby" by default) and either select or search for the location you want. You can search by city name or state to narrow down the list. Once selected, your next search will act as if it is starting from the center of that city.

Region ("Wisconsin")

Click the location selector and select the state from the dropdown. Your next search will look within all stores within that state.

Using Filters

Click the Filters Icon in the Search Bar to show your options. You can filter by Price and Category. If filters are already applied, the Filters Icon will appear highlighted

Price

Setting this filter will restrict results to only the range you've selected. The default is Any Price.

Category

Setting this filter will restrict results to only products that have been placed into that category. The default is All Categories. The categories in GiftBlazer are:

You can chain all of these together to find really cool stuff across GiftBlazer. If you want to find "All the decor ideas for a friend with a new apartment near Madison, WI between $25-$50", you can do that. For reference:
